Hurricane Irene has captured everyone's attention. I cannot access the New York City webcam I told you about earlier because it is overrun with others also trying to see what the weather is like in lower Manhattan . . . Saw several gold finches in that bed of dying cone flowers at North Second and Peffer Street tonight . . . Have often wondered who pays for all those Air Force fly-overs at parades and sporting events. If we are in a recession and desperate for funds this seems to be a luxury we cannot afford. Maybe NASCAR pays for this at their races, no? . . .The horse statue stands a foot high and sells for $57.50. I tried to be arty with the photo but I just made things worse. Much of the black you see is actually shadows thrown by the evergreen. This is a lovely piece, however . . .
